The power of marine plants - for naturally beautiful skin

Algae are concentrates of seawater with enormous active potential, they serve as real biological sponges, absorbing the vital cocktail of seawater, which contains all the elements necessary for a person, i.e. trace elements, vitamins and mineral salts. A single algae contains 1000 times more iodine, 100 times more calcium and 10 times more magnesium than any plant growing on land.

“There is a unique connection between every person and the sea, as more than 70% of our human body is made up of water. Vital fluids, including lymph, blood plasma and intestinal fluid, have the same composition and living mineral structure as seawater.”

Algotherm is the first brand and pioneer in the use of marine plants in cosmetics. The founder of the Algotherm laboratory, Mr. Lefour, a biologist specializing in algotherapy, was literally fascinated by the fantastic properties of algae and their positive effects on the human body. Therefore, in 1962, the scientist invented and patented a method for extracting biologically active compounds from marine plants for skin care and improving skin functions. For more than 50 years, Algotherm researchers have been faithful to their mission – to use the riches of marine plants for functional improvement of the skin and the preservation of naturally harmonious beauty and skin health.

Of the 80,000 types of algae living in the seas and oceans, approximately 40 are used in cosmetology. The spectrum of their properties is extremely wide, which depends on the conditions in which the algae grows and what it feeds on. For example, the Codium Tomentosum algae, when left without water during low tide, is able to grow a shell for itself so that it does not dry out while waiting for the tide to return. That is why Algotherm uses this algae in moisturizing products, as it has a unique ability to delay skin dehydration. Alaria Esculenta is called the algae of youth, as it is able to survive in harsh climatic conditions, and it has a natural ability to accelerate cell renewal. Products containing this algae help maintain skin firmness, preventing damage to collagen and elastin fibers. Similar functions are also possessed by the Undaria Pinnatifida algae, which effectively improves the quality of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid, stimulating the so-called youth gene. That is why Algotherm widely uses it in anti-aging products.

Algotherm skin care products are both gentle on the skin (they are free of parabens and phenoxyethanol, and the fragrances are allergen-free) and safe for the environment, including marine biodiversity. To preserve the environment, Algotherm respects breeding seasons and the sustainable use of wild resources, and never tests its products on animals. In turn, product packaging is made from recycled materials to protect nature.

Algotherm caters to the beauty needs of every skin type (including sensitive skin), offering naturally effective face and body care products that look great, smell great and enhance the skin's natural beauty. Independent laboratories test Algotherm products for effectiveness, skin safety, under the supervision of dermatologists and ophthalmologists.
